What is MiniRoos Kick-Off?

Taringa Rovers Soccer FC

The Kick Off Program (formerly known as the Squirts Programme) is for children aged from 3 to 5 years.  It is aimed at establishing a base level of both football and athletic ability through a weekly, enjoyable, entry-level circuit program. Children are able to develop their fundamental football skills, co-ordination and gross motor skills required to participate in small-sided football games in a safe, fun and non-competitive environment.

The original Squirts program was developed due to Taringa Rovers SFC junior coaches noticing a significantly higher footballing ability in young children that had been exposed to the game from an earlier age, and was developed by former Taringa Rovers SFC Head Coach Joe Fenech.  From 2019, the club will offer the National Miniroos Kick-off program which will be administered and developed further through our Technical Director of Coaching - Juniors, Andy Dixon.

Registrations will be on a term basis comprising 8 sessions of 1 hour duration held on Saturday mornings each of terms 2 & 3. For more information click HERE

The Miniroos Kick-Off Program is a skills based program for 3.-5 year olds.

**If your child is turning 6 in 2022, they should be registered for our U6 program not the Kick-off Program**

The weekly sessions are the perfect introduction to the world’s most popular game for boys and girls aged between 3 and 5. Children are given a ball and have a ball! Coaches take the class through a series of football drills in the 60 minute sessions.

Every player gets plenty of time on the ball and the prime aim of each session is for children to build fundamental motor skills in a fun, engaging, and inclusive environment.

Kick-Off players are encouraged to wear the club’s Junior playing kit, the same one that is worn by all U6-U11 players. This means that should a player remain with the club they can wear the same uniform in future years, rather than having a separate uniform just for the Kick-Off program.

However, we understand that it is a significant cost if your child decides not to continue. If possible, we ask that youpurchase the TRSFC playing shirt and children may wear their own shorts and socks.

Bucket Hats are optional but encouraged. Please ensure your player has shin pads

Football boots and shinpads are not required for the Kick-Off program. Normal sports joggers are adequate.

If you would like to purchase uniforms you are welcome to order from our supplier Statewide Sports.
